Lacking in Qualityby: RailGun

Color balance is off and they arbitrarily crop your images. I just had to throw away $12 worth of prints because their cropping made them unsuitable for my portfolio.

Great Prints - Different Printersby: Eltolad

The reasons for varied quality on in-store pickup is because some are printed on a Kodak G3 - a standalone kiosk connected to the internet. Depending on use, this machine usually prints out decent prints - it uses Kodak's thermal ribbon system for printing photos. Personally, I prefer Fuji prints over Kodak's. They are printed on the same machine that you would get a roll of film printed on (the big one in the back). I have consistently had excellent quality with any of the Fuji stores. The easy way to tell is simply to call. I hear some markets are 100% Fuji, while in some other markets, only the 24-hour stores are Fuji. Either way, Walgreen's is the way I always print my photos - and all Walgreen's have a 100% satisfaction guarantee - if you don't like your photo's quality, you don't have to pay for it - just look at your photos before paying for them, and take out the ones you don't like. I hope this helps!

I would pass on them - it is nice to be able to pick it up locally but at least the local store where I live generated bad prints.

not the cheapest - but good quality from such a big chainby: gargamel

I am always cautious about using big chain for stuff that is not just picking up a product from their shelves. nevertheless I did try walgreens and I was suprised. the quality is really good. I guess their printing center is of good quality or maybe they are just outsourcing this service? anyone knows? they are going to have an in-store pickup soon on one hand this is cool cause you can get the prints much faster but i guess that once they do that the quality will vary a lot from store to store.
