I haven't taken the scale on a trip but I did test it when received and it was on the money compared with my bathroom scales. We purchased this product for our Parents who travel a lot. We were excited about the reviews and the product and thought that it would be a great Christmas Gift. It didn't work at all. 4 different people tried several times to read the instructions and weigh the luggage but the scale kept reading 28lbs. When the luggage was weighed at the airport it was 51lbs. I must have gotten a bad product judging from the reviews. We didn't get a chance to use the scale until February and by then it was too late to return the product. What a shame. This is my new item not to leave behind when flying! We were always concerned with the weight of the luggage when we return from a trip, and this took away the guesswork. Weight was exactly the same as the scale at the airport. Particularly handy on those charter flights when weight limits are very strict. I purchased this recently to take on a trip. It worked after I opened it to weigh our luggage before leaving. We only used it about 7- 8 times to check the bags and then packed it with our suitcase. When we repacked our bags to come home the batteries were already dead. This is unacceptable and I would not recommend this scale to anyone.
