Resident Evil: Degeneration |
| Product DescriptionA zombie attack brings chaos to Harvardville Airport. Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield who fought the sinister Umbrella Corporation during the Raccoon City tragedy 7 years ago, are back. In high-octane Resident Evil style, they're ready to battle a rogue warrior who is seeking revenge after his family was killed in Raccoon City. The deadly G-Virus is unleashed and a new mutated monster goes on the rampage. Will Claire and Leon be able to terminate the virus before history repeats itself?Amazon.com Resident Evil: Degeneration, the first fully CGI animated feature in the dystopian horror series, presents fans of the game and its subsequent movies with all the things they crave the most: loads of gunplay orchestrated by an attractive heroine, a labyrinthine plot honeycombed with conspiracy theories and government double-dealings, and most importantly, an army of plague victims hungering for human flesh. The CGI animation certainly allows for richer, bloodier and more explosive scenarios than in the live-action features, and if the story itself--RE heroes Clare Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy must fight their way from a zombie-infested airport to the pharmaceutical company that hides a key to the virus, as well as a monstrous new enemy--is so densely plotted as to warrant multiple rewinds, the picture knows it can be simply enjoyed as a player-free version of the game that inspired it. Vocal talent is probably Degeneration's weakest link (the already purple dialogue sounds extra cringe worthy in the mouths of the cast (which includes several voice actors from the games)) with a subplot involving Leon and fellow agent Angela Miller running a close second. However, neither is so detrimental to fans' enjoyment that it might prevent them from checking out the latest--and, it should be noted, not the final--chapter in Resident Evil's complex and gruesome mythology. --Paul GaitaReviewsIt's an ok movie but I wished it followed the game's search for clues/hunt for objects in the spooky building along with shoot and kick zombie butt.
Sporting graphics that are occasionally wonderful, the voice actors from the games, and sly winks to fans of the game-saga, Resident Evil: Degeneration exists only for those who have grown up playing the games.
The story does a great job of providing a seamless transition from Resident Evil 4 to 5 while throwing in many character cameos and references that will excite any fan, however, it does not have enough depth to fully entertain someone unfamiliar with the games.
Well, I didn't know what to expect from this movie. Would it be just ok or could it really immerse the watcher on the Resident Evil universe?! Hopefully, the second option fits here, brilliantly!!! You feel like you're watching a non interactive game from the franchise!!! In addition, it's grateful to see Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, main actors on my favorite Resident Evil game (the second) ever!!! There's no regret in purchasing this one, more noticeable if you're a fan.
I am a big fan of George A. Romero's zombie films. I'm also a fan of the Resident Evil live action movies. I'm not really a big fan of the Resident Evil videogames. That's not to say that they are bad. I've just not played most of them. I've really only played the first one many years ago. I really should play the rest someday. But besides all that, I finally decided to see Resident Evil : Degeneration and I have to say, I liked it. I thought it was a pretty good movie overall.
I still think that the live action movies are better, but, this one kept me interested throughout and that's all that you can really ask for. The characters were cool, the zombies were great, although I wished they had more zombie action in it then they did. And the obligatory monster, the G-Virus Curtis Mutant was fairly creepy and menacing as well.
The only downside that I can give it is that some of the CGI characters looked a little too rubbery and weird now and then. That's why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The rest of the CGI for the buildings and vehicles and explosions etcetera were pretty amazing though.
I've seen a few CGI movies over the years and enjoyed them all. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Beowulf, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and RE: Degeneration is another fine entry in the category. I am looking forward to a sequel should they ever decide to do one.
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1QQHVGTC4QNIM While the movie itself follows the mythology of the Resident Evil storyline, I didn't feel as though it did a lot to contribute to the overall story that the franchise has followed. It's 'average' in regards to a movie, but what makes it fun to watch is the preestablished characters that the film follows. It has great CGI (though nothing amazing) and the film's finale is inventive, just like the Resident Evil games before it have been.
I'd recommend it, but only to preexisting fans of Resident Evil. This isn't somewhere to start if you haven't played the Resident Evil games before.
