We wanted something that was easy-to-use, compact and affordable. This camera offered all of those things and more.
We also purchased the Lowepro Rezo soft black camera case (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00012FVYC/ref=ox_ya_oh_product) and Transcend 4 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS4GSDHC6 for additional memory. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JMJWV2/ref=ox_ya_os_product) to go along with the camera. The extra memory allowed us to get 1000 pictures on this camera, before having to download them to our computer.
The camera performed brilliantly. The pictures we took on our vacation were of people, scenery and flora, and all were beautiful. All our relatives wanted picture discs to have of our vacation, and my mom even ordered this camera from Amazon, so that she would have one for herself.
Overall, an excellent small investment.
I wanted a camera that was simple to use - I am more than happy with this one - it is easy to zoom in on things and I haven't accidentally erased any pictures. The screen is large enough for me to actually view the picture. The timely shipping was great - it actually came in earlier than promised.
It has a 10X optical zoom. Great. But what is the point if the quality of the pictures is so bad?
How bad: first pictures I took: a person with a blue sky in the background. How standard can be such a picture? On the pictures, the sky was like a bad gif picture with only a few numbers of colors. Tthere was not a smooth gradient of blues, but 4 or 5 bands. Never saw that on my previous point&shoot cameras. This happened using different modes from Auto, to IA.
The blue was also wrong, really not a blue sky.
In most pictures, some colors are over saturated. It's not uncommon to have some areas completely white. Never saw that too on my previous cameras.
Speed also is disappointing: I have a class 4 memory card (= fast card) but saving the picture is quite slow (between 1 to 2 secs) making it difficult to take many pictures in a short time (like your son running on the field).
Focus is also a big problem: the camera has lots of problems focusing: often takes 1-2 seconds, even in simple conditions.
The zoom cannot be used in macro: in 10x you have to be at 7 feet from the object to be able to focus.
A final point: my camera, after three days, is dead. My fault: a few drops of water killed it. So don't take it out if there is even the slighter chance of light rain.
I bought this camera about a month ago and i love it! I wanted something that wasn't bulky, was user friendly, took great pictures and had a good zoom. This camera fits the bill. It also takes terrific video with sound, and you can zoom in and out while filming. I don't think there are any other cameras out there with this much zoom and are as compact as this one. Also, it has an iso rating of 800, which is important if you want to take good quality pictures in low light. There are very few cameras with this good a rating. I would definitely recommend this camera-it is awesome!
This is my first digital camera so I wasn't familiar with digital camera yet but this camera is very user-friendly. It took great pictures. I will keep it until it is broken!
