Kitrics Digital Nutrition Scale |
| Product DescriptionThis functional product is both a food scale and a nutritional calculator. The easy to read display shows the 10 key elements of weighed foods in a familiar format similar to the nutrition label found on most food products. Convenient tare feature allows the user to zero out the weight of a container and capture only the weight and nutritional data for the food contents. This scale allows the user to simply enter a food code from the provided list of 1999 common foods and place the food item on the scale platform and the nutritional facts for the weighed item will be displayed. The user can also choose to enter and store up to 99 customizable food code entries and total their daily nutritional intake to help them achieve their health goals.ReviewsDue to the sudden onset of health issues I have to somehow merge a 500 mg a day low sodium diet, a 1000 calorie a day diabetic diet, a 200 mg a day cholesterol diet, a 1500 ml total intake of fluid per day and a limit of 6 ounces of protein a day. This scale and the "BOWES AND CHURCH FOOD VALUES" nutrition guide are the only reason I'm still sane. If you're just trying to lose weight this scale is a breeze. Stick to grams and keep a food log or diary. When you make yourself accountable in writing and can't quesstimate of fudge you will drop weight. Do yourself a favor and watch that sodium and caffeine intake, too. This scale will also weigh your mail and your ingredients for any recipe with gram conversion (which quite a few have). It's so much easier to sit at the center island with the scale and just weigh out everything before it goes in the bread machine, crock pot, or stock pot. The readout having insufficient contrast that is not adjustable is the only thing keeping this scale from 5 stars, and the reasonable price for all it does with Amazon's fast delivery almost pushed it up to five even with the readout being an eyestrain.
I loved this scale when I first got it. Now it's broken. I replaced the batteries, still doesn't work. It won't turn on. $40 down the drain.
I have had this scale for about a year and a half now. For the first year, it worked great! After that, I started having problems with the buttons. The first thing that went was the G/OZ button. I would push it to switch to ounces and it would beep and not change. At first it seemed that this would happen only when it had new batteries, but now it happens all the time. Can never depend on being able to get the ounce measurement. Now it seems that all the buttons are going haywire. I push a button and somthing other than what I pushed is input (another number or another function). It gets VERY frustrating!
I am now looking for a new nutriion scale. Won't buy this one again - it should have lasted a lot longer than it did!
The scale itself is decent. It's adequately represented in the other comments here-- though I would add that anyone looking for an ultra-durable scale should expect to pay a whole lot more than $50. Try looking for a professional legal-for-trade scale to see what the cost would likely be...
Their customer support is great. I lost my food code booklet and asked for a new one. After some truly horrible recent experiences with other customer support organizations (yes, Weight Watchers, I *do* mean you!) I was expecting to get the run-around or be directed to call in and order a new one at punitive pricing.
Not so-- they sent me a soft copy of the manual within 5 minutes of getting my E-mail. Nicely done, Kitrics!
I had this product for a year. I loved what it was capable of and when it worked it was wonderful!
Unfortunately, it lost balance twice and it took over a week for it to find it again. It was a pain. Just after having it for a year, it completely died. Save yourself trouble and go with a different brand/scale.
