Amazon.com Product Description

While the Jurassic era of dinosaurs may have been quite a few years ago, kids can now discover this lost era and help scientists bring the extinct beasts back to life. From the folks at Brighter Minds comes a game about researching and collecting dinosaurs--specifically aimed at the younger crowd of 6 to 12 year olds. If you have an older child already familiar with these creatures and if they have a younger sibling who can’t pronounce even one, they will both be able to play and learn with this DVD game.

The researchers on Isla Sorna are trying to round up samples of 25 dinosaurs so that they may bring them back to life. It’s up to players--using the Velociraptor, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Pteranodon, and Triceratops movers--to capture these oversized lizards and birds for the sake of science. Gathering dino DNA is done through rolling the die, moving that number of spaces on the game board, and then seeing which of the seven "mini-games" you’ll need to win. These games come on the included DVD with you controlling the action via remote control, and challenges range from being the first to identify a slowly appearing dinosaur and digging up bones to answering trivia questions and correctly lining up body parts of the breeds.

Bone Dig game
Find five bones in a set number of turns at the dig site.

The game’s graphics are beautifully detailed--from the dinosaur fact cards and the sturdy game board to the DVD’s content. Clips from all three Jurassic Park movies, never-before-seen animation clips, and more than 300 trivia questions keep this game entertaining for more than just a few rounds. Allowing fossil fans to find and clone the beasts of yore is just an added bonus.

Plains game
In the Plains you must name the dinosaur slowly emerging from the fog before time runs out and opponents have a chance to guess.

Probably the greatest thing about this game, though, is its versatility. While it includes four player pieces, you can play alone, with up to four individual players, or with teams. You can also choose to not use the game board by following what Brighter Minds calls the "In the Car" instructions. (As this implies, this game can be used on portable or in-car DVD players as well, making it a great traveling game or time-filler in between errand stops.) There are also three different skill levels--scout, tracker, and paleontologist--that allow kids (or adults) who may not be as familiar with the creatures to play at an easier level, while someone with more knowledge can participate in the same game at a harder level, evening the playing field some. Lastly, you can choose to play a short or long version of the game by determining at the beginning of the game how many dinosaurs a player needs to collect in order claim victory.
