Coffeeduck PERMANENT Refillable Coffee Filter for the Senseo EXCEPT HD7820 & 7832 |
| Product DescriptionIntroducing the COFFEEDUCK, which is a new innovation for coffee lovers. The COFFEEDUCK is perfectly made for your own variety of coffee. From now on the control of flavour, strength and quantity of coffee is at your fingertips. The COFFEEDUCK can also be used with one or two regular paper pods. You will be amazed at the possibilities that the COFFEEDUCK has to offer. A mug of coffee no problem, an espresso no problem, 2 regular cups of coffee, you name it! With the COFFEEDUCK you are now able to create your own taste and quantity of coffee. For instance: Compress the ground coffee firmly and you will get less coffee with strong taste. If you use coarse ground coffee the taste will be weaker than using fine ground coffee. For best results use fine ground espresso coffee, similar to used in coffee shops and in the regular paper pods. How to use the COFFEEDUCK: Fill the COFFEEDUCK preferably with fine ground coffee. (max 4mm underneath the edge) If you use medium or coarse ground coffee, you have to fill up the COFFEEDUCK totally (max 4mm underneath the edge) If you use espresso ground coffee then fill the COFFEEDUCK halfway or totally (max 4mm underneath the edge), depending on your own taste. Be aware: Make sure the edge of the COFFEEDUCK is free of crumbs! # Put the top plate on top of the coffee, make sure the edge is crumb free. # Close the Senseo # Press the 1 or 2 cup button # After use of the COFFEEDUCK: Open the Senseo. # Remove the COFFEEDUCK from the machine. # Caution: Contents may be hot! # Remove the lid by hand or rinse it under the tap. # Empty the COFFEEDUCK in the bin and/or rinse it clean under the tap. # Dry the COFFEEDUCK for next use. # If you have user problems please refer to our manual. Movie http://www.coffeeduck.com/uk_index.htmlReviewsThis product is expensive and worthless. I have tried it a million ways and it always makes a weak, disgusting cup of coffee UNLESS I fill it up all the way, then it just makes a terrible mess. Do not buy this product, you will be sorry.
Using the Coffeeduck is more addictive than smoking quack... er, crack!! I've used Senseo Pods for years now and love the convenience, but hate the insane Zimbabwe-esque prices. I Decided to try making my own pods with some bungee chords, my grandmother's handmade quilt, a wad of bubble gum, and just a little bit o' Yankee Ingenuity. And Voila... catastrophe! My Macguyver-Pods resulted in leaks(the Senseo Machine, not me),shattered dreams of never playing the spoons at Carnegie Hall, and a cornucopia of crummy cups of coffee. A tragedy indeed!
So who can save me from this dastardly situation and give a tasty cup o' joe all at the same time? COFFEEDUCK... That's who!
Seriously, this little gizmo has made the world just a little bit better(just like Funyuns). After reading all the stellar positive Amazon reviews([...]!) I decided to roll up some pennies and take a $[...] dollar risk on the "Duck". This contraption will save you oodles of cash, let you pick the brand of coffee you enjoy(evil, non-conforming, anti-pod genre), and feed even the most ravenous caffeine addiction! This is the best thing that's happened to me since I became the President of the Milli Vanilli Fanclub(and only member)! I don't get out much, but I love me some cappuccino!
If you don't want "fowl" coffee, you're in luck with the "duck"! Mark the "bill" on this "duck"... paid in YUM! You'll be "Daffy" over this "Duck"... ok, enough bad jokes, just buy the thing already, Sheesh!!
Great product for those with a Senseo coffee maker. Lets you choose the coffee you want at a fraction of the price that pods cost. The only thing you don't get is the froth on top but who cares if the coffee taste good and cost less.
I bought a Senseo several years ago and really liked it--except one major thing: Pods. After realizing how expensive the pods are, and the lack of freedom a coffemaker designed soley to use a manufactured unit provides, my Senseo sat at the back of my "kitchen gadget cabinet". I almost threw it out. The only reason I kept the senseo was hope that someone would introduce a product that would allow me to easily use it with any ground coffee I wanted.
In comes the "coffeeduck". At first I was skeptical, I'd tried a competing pod replacement unit ("ecopad") a while back with less than stellar results.
My first try with the "coffeeduck" yielded weak watery coffee. Why? I was so eager to try the "coffeeduck" that I ignored the instructions and loosely filled it with the only coffee I had on-hand, an automatic drip grind. Fortunately, I did not give up. I went out and bought a can of expresso grind coffee. Amazing difference when you follow the instructions (and comments from amazon reviewers)!
I'm now using the Senseo/coffeeduck combo every morning, it's my french press that is hanging out in the gadget cabinet.
Recommendations/Observations:
Use an expresso grind. Do not even try the coffeeduck with a coarser grind.
Take care not to get coffee on the lip of the coffeduck. It will prevent a good seal on the unit and coffee will leak out while brewing. I have not had a severe blow out yet, just some coffee dribbling down the front of the Senseo. Still, a little care helps prefent any leak.
Pack coffee gently into the coffeeduck. If the grinds are too loose, the coffee will be too weak.
What would make the coffeeduck better?
Easier, more secure filling--help the user get the right amount of coffee in the coffeeduck with none on the lip.
I wonder about the long term longevity of the plastic coffeeduck "lid". The steel lower portion looks sturdy.
Make the handle shorter. The handle is so long it is easy to accidentally hit it while working in the kitchen.
I bought this with Proctor Silex E160B Fresh Grind Coffee Grinder, White at the same time.
I have to say. This works out better than I expected. Now i can have my favorite tea, coffee, flower, any flavor i want.
Just dont forget to grind the coffee/tea with Proctor Silex E160B Fresh Grind Coffee Grinder, White. Since it's fine powder, dont forget to leave some room in the Refillable Coffee Filter.
Never ever fill more than half of the Refillable Coffee filter. The tea/coffee will come out strong for 2 cup setting if you fill with a little bit less than half full.
Enjoy. Dont have to find your "favorite" pod anymore since you can just fresh grind the whole beans/leafs and enjoy whatever flavor you want to blend with. For me, I blend the tea with dry jasmine flowers.
Life can't be better. :) sit back and enjoy the best coffee/tea you have at home in 2 minutes.
