Product DescriptionChic, simple. Canon looked to the very first ELPH for inspiration when designing the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH, and came up with a quintessential iteration of the icon: slim, clean-lined and fully flat. Inside, the SD1000 Digital ELPH looks only to the future: 7.1 Megapixels, a 3x optical zoom and advanced DIGIC III ensure top-quality images, while focus is fast and sharp and red-eye is automatically corrected. The large and more colorful LCD screen now has a tough, anti-reflective coating that makes it as durable as it is beautiful. My daughter took it on a trip and the very moment she went to use it the lens barrel got stuck in the open position. My older SD200 also gave a "E18" error and stopped functioning. I called a local camera repair. They said it would take 3 weeks and $50-80USD to fix it.
Makes excellent 8 x 10s with my inkjet printer. Plenty of battery life. Average flash distance. Good view screen size.
I used this camera for about 8 months with no problems. On vacation the camera had a lens error problem. Before you buy this camera google lens error problems on this camera. I was amazed that they had so many complaints.
loved my previous Canon Elph, a 110 bought around 2000 - it still functions just fine (albeit with 1 meg pictures). I bought this SD1000 camera under two years ago, and the lens motor is now non functional. I've taken about 2K pictures with it.
Canon wants to charge about 150 bucks to fix it now. A quick search shows at least one class action suite against Canon for a similar problem, and just as I was moaning to the customer service representative my co-worker mentioned he'd had 2 Canons recently fail in the same way.
I'm hoping against hope someone from Canon contacts me, but for the mean while, here, Canon, suck on this.
I've researched for 3 days just to choose which camera to buy and I decided to buy the sd1000.
A lot of people lately buy sd1100 because of its price and features. Sd1100 is indeed a great camera for its price but I really thought that the design of the camera was too feminine for me so I didn't choose it.
This camera sd1000, its design is absolutely wonderful.
This camera takes an absolute quality of pictures, I've researched a lot about this camera and many camera experts prefer sd1000 rather than sd1100 for taking better pictures even though it's an older model.
Believe me, this camera is just frikin' awesome!
