Nothing complicated here: An actual Canon battery at a very good price. This sound ordinary, but it's not. We've had a previous experience where an Amazon merchant showed an original equipment battery at a bargain price, but shipped a replacement brand. This is not the case here. Only thing wrong is the applicability listing. We have a Canon S90, which uses this battery -- but it's not listed. Bottom line: Great deal.

Everyone needs a backup battery, and after some purchases of non-brand-name batteries at a bricks-and-mortar store whose initials are both the second letter in the alphabet I am a firm believer in going with brand name Canon. Although the specs on off-brand batteries are often seemingly better than their brand-name counterparts the reality does not match that. Canon brand name batteries last much longer and work perfectly. Granted, the cost is a lot more but would you rather buy (and more importantly, carry) 3 off-brand batteries or just one of the genuine article? Of course you could just risk it and have just one battery but if you do that old Murphy (of the law by that name) will get you - just as your 1 year old is about to dive into that birthday cake the little flashing red symbol on your camera will let you know you are out of luck.

In my case, this battery is particularly great since it fits both my Canon SD 1200IS as well as my Canon D10.

I agree with everyone here, it is Canon brand, it powers your camera... End of story..

I almost returned my battery though as it does not smoothly fit my new SD980is. I sat and looked at it for almost 5 minutes trying to see what could be different about ths battery then the one that came with my camera... A good amount of jiggling and messing with the battery it finaly does go in but not smoothly. I know that some will read this and assume I can't put a battery in a camera, however I had two coworkers (also engineers) looking at it and were unsure why it was being a pain. In the end it was just a HAIR taller then the original battery but it works, so I am not going to complain or return it.

I bought this battery as a back-up for my new Canon SD1200 IS digital camera. It fits perfectly in the battery charger and seems to have just as much strength as the original battery.

By turning off my camera's LCD screen and using the viewfinder, I have taken over 1000 pictures--all outdoors, no flash--on one battery charge and the battery still isn't depleted.

I would avoid knock-off brands and stick with genuine Canon batteries.

Had a few knock-off clones, and all of them had shorter life spans and less battery capacity than the OEM one from Canon.
